Theodore Green, age 79, of
Rockaway, New Jersey, died on Monday, January 19, 2026 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, his family by his side.
Ted was born on November 21, 1946 and raised in
Newark, New Jersey as the youngest child to the late Morris and Ann Green. He graduated from Weequahic High School. Like so many others, he received his draft notice and enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Throughout his four years in the military, Ted worked hard to obtain college credits. At the end of his military service, he held the rank of Sergeant. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force he enrolled in Seton Hall University to continue his education.
After first meeting on the AOL instant message board in late 2000, Ted married his cherished wife, Deborah on February 22, 2003. Ted was an accountant by trade, earning his well deserved retirement in 2014 and stepping down from his role as Vice President - Controller for NJ Insurance Underwriting Association.
Ted was an avid New York Yankees fan. Some of his dearest moments was sitting on the deck of his destination trailer in Meredith, New Hampshire with his son-in-law, smoking cigars and watching their beloved Yankees. Ted also loved a good game of blackjack- traveling to Mount Airy once a week, and Atlantic City in his younger years.
Ted will be remembered as the social skills wizard. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved his family and cherished his many longtime friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Morris Green and one brother, Paul Green.
He is survived by his spouse of 22 years, Deborah "Deb" Green; one daughter, Alyssa D. Green; one son-in-law, Thomas Murphy; and one brother, Martin "Marty" Green.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
