On July 4, 1958, a son was born to Melvin and Josie Brown in Galveston, TX named Melvin Charles Brown. At a young age, he confessed Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a member of Elion Zion Baptist Church and later joined the Rock of Salvation M.B.C. Melvin attended Southside Elementary, Angleton Junior high, and Sterling High School in Houston, TX. Melvin was a joy to be around... a jokester, prankster, and a hustler. He just loved to have fun! He me his fiancé Lisa in high school and after 16 years apart, they reunited and was together until his death. He worked at Right Light, TSU and was self-employed.
Melvin departed this life on September 5, 2024. He is preceded in death by his sister Laura Ann Brown; grandparents Jerome Brown, Willie Mae Young, L.C. Banks and Josie Banks, Uncles Joe Brown, John Banks, Roosevelt Banks, Bobby Banks, Albert Banks, L. C. Banks, Jerome Brown Jr., Bobby Sasser, Clarence Sasser, Joe Tigner, and Aunt Mary Woodson.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory to his daughter, Kilania Gunels, parents Melvin and Josie Brown, uncle Sonny Brown; brother Alonzo Brown (Shirley); sister Opal Miree (John Ross); grandsons Maceo Loving, Jaheim Gunels, Dontrell Gunels, Treshawn Gunels, fiancé Dilecia Debarros; great uncle and aunt Lincoln and Atice Banks; aunts Lois Castile, Jesse Brown, Susie Brown, Rommie Brown, Cynthia Stewart (Don), and Jackie Hall, A special Cousin Pricilla Jackson ( George) and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
