Michael “Mike” Bellus, age 65, of Odenton, MD, formerly of Milbank, SD, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mundwiler Funeral Home Chapel in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Pastor Melanie Reiners will officiate, and interment will be at Milbank Cemetery.
John Michael Bellus was born on October 25, 1959, to John F. and Darlene (Lage) Bellus. A lifelong learner, Mike was a man of many interests. He loved sports, particularly golf and basketball, traveling, and had a remarkable enthusiasm for many types of collectables – and especially cars.
Mike was an over 45-year employee of the FBI. He started his distinguished career at the age of 19. He eventually became a Special Agent, and his FBI duties took him around the world. After retiring as a Special Agent, Mike rejoined the FBI in a civilian capacity. Alongside his government work, he managed a family business in Milbank, South Dakota. His ability to balance a demanding career with his devotion to family and business was a testament to his hard work and dedication.
On July 22, 2020, Mike married Irina Gurbanova, forming a loving partnership that extended to caring for their family.
Surviving Mike are his wife, Irina Gurbanova Bellus, of Odenton, MD; and two stepchildren whom he cherished as his own: his stepson, Ergun Mammadli of Boise, ID; and his stepdaughter, Aylin Mammadli of Odenton, MD.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Thomas Bellus; and his maternal grandparents: Wilbur and Annie Lage.
