Michael Andre Lahargoue (3/29/44 – 10/18/24)
Mike was born on March 29, 1944 in Taft, California and passed away peacefully in his sleep at this home in Posey, California on October 18, 2024. Mike was born and raised in Taft, having graduated from Taft Union High School in 1962 and then completing his AA at Taft College in 1965. On May 1, 1965, he married the love of his life, Bobbie (Smith). Mike began his career in law enforcement on April 17, 1967, by being sworn in as the youngest patrol oUicer at the time for Taft PD. In 1970, Mike was appointed to the California Highway Patrol Academy and was commissioned as a State TraUic OUicer stationed in Victorville, California in 1971. After several assignments, he was able to return to his hometown of Taft in 1974 – where he was a resident oUicer until 1992 when the Buttonwillow CHP oUice was opened. Mike retired from the CHP, after 28 years of dedicated service in 1998. Upon his retirement, he and Bobbie moved to the small mountain community of Posey, California. Never one who liked to sit still, "Mikey" filled his time as a volunteer fireman with Tulare County for over 20 years, hunting and fishing and pitching in and supporting the people in the community of Posey. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; Andre Lahargoue (1969); Norilein Lahargoue (2001); his brother Paul Lahargoue (2010) as well as many special family members, several very close friends he considered family, including his beloved hunting partners. Mike is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bobbie of Posey, California; daughter Michelle Cake (Howard) of Albuquerque, NM; son Robert Lahargoue (Becky) of Bakersfield, CA. Grandchildren Ashton Cake, Morgan Cake, Baylee Lahargoue-Pyle, Nicholas Ray (Janae) and their son Rowan; Brother in Law, Don Kinkade; (Sister) Jan Ashely; Neice Kay Headley (Shaun); Nephew Rick Lahargoue (Vickey); and several special people in Mikes' life that he considered family and will miss him greatly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Posey Fire Auxiliary, PO Box 123 Posey, CA 93260, West Kern Oil Museum in Taft or your favorite charity in Mike's memory. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm at West Side District Cemetery in Taft, California. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Posey Community Church located at 43234 Capinero Drive in Posey, CA.
