Michael E. "Mike" Lonergan, age 73, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at home. He was surrounded by his loved ones: wife Kathleen, daughter Stacey Doulin, stepdaughters Tina Gamache (Bob) and Cheryl Sicker, and grandchildren Rachel Terry (Andrew), Matt, and Zack Gamache, Amber, Paige, and Dakota Sicker. Mike was born on July 3, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late William Lonergan and Mary (Lasher) and Arthur Schehr.
Mike enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served two years in the Vietnam Era. He continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard until 1993. Mike met the love of his life, Kathy, and the two were wed on October 2, 1993. Later in life, Mike returned to school to earn his Associate's Degree from Adirondack Community College, in 1998. For many years, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as an Education Specialist with MEPS in Albany, NY.
Mike was an enthusiastic golfer, avid reader, history buff and a lover of all music genres. While growing up in Vermont, Mike shared his love of skiing by teaching his sister and even built his own trail for them to enjoy. Above all, Mike cherished spending time with his loving wife Kathy. Some of their favorite things were watching the waves at Cape Cod, Jekyll Island and traveling to Florida on multiple occasions. He also enjoyed the casinos on the cruise ships and learning about different cultures. Mike and Kathy enjoyed spending their time with their grandchildren; supporting all that they did.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Stacey Doulin, Chris (Mindy) Lonergan and Robyn Lonergan; his stepdaughters, Tina (Bob) Gamache and Cheryl Sicker and his sisters Theresa Schehr and Barbara McDonough. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, with more on the way, as well as several other relatives and friends.
