Michael P. "Iron" Stangl, age 66, Marshfield, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at his home in the Town of Cary, Wood County.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, October 18 at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday at Our Lady of Peace Church. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Michael was born on February 14, 1958, in Marshfield, to Eugene and Arline (Kraemer) Stangl. He attended Our Lady of Peace Catholic School and was a 1977 graduate of Columbus High School. He married Mary Sebold and they later divorced.
Mike was employed at various places in the Marshfield area, working as a mechanic and welder and worked at Lynn Dairy until the present time.
Mike had a passion for late dirt model racing and built his first race car himself. (orange #1st) He enjoyed snowmobiling and attending the snowmobile races in Eagle River. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, keeping up his yard, making wood, and his cats. He was a go to fix-it man.
He is survived by his father, Gene of Marshfield, his sisters, Debra Frazier of Prattville, AL, Jan (Patrick) Krier of Wautoma, and Kay (Alan) Domaszek of Stevens Point, and his brother, Jeffry Stangl of Pittsville. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arline on November 28, 2013.
The family will designate a memorial at a later date.
