Michael John Worra, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona. Born on November 5, 1955, in Fort Riley, Kansas, Mike's zest for life and his infectious humor touched all who knew him.
Mike's early years were marked by a sense of adventure and a love for learning, which saw him graduate from the American School of Vientiane, Laos, in 1973. His quest for knowledge led him to Glendale Community College, where he fondly remembered enjoying his AZ Heritage class and nurtured a passion for Computer Technologies.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mike served his country with dedication before embarking on a successful career as an administrator in the fields of electronics and information technology. His colleagues respected him for his intelligence and his ability to solve problems with grace and ease.
Mike's interests were as dynamic as his personality. He had an enduring love for the great outdoors, found joy hiking trails in the Grand Canyon, feeling the wind on his face while riding motorcycles, or engaging in any sport that involved wheels. The warm Arizona sunshine was his constant companion as he pursued these activities and others with unbridled enthusiasm.
Family was the cornerstone of Mike's life. He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Worra; his cherished daughter, Rachel Little, son-in-law Eric Little; and his two adored grandchildren, Mirabelle and Declan Little. His mother, Lila Timm, stepmother, Pam Worra, brother, Bryan Worra, and brother-in-law Curt Koenne will hold his memory dear in their hearts. Mike was preceded in death by his father, John Worra; his sister, Terri Koenne; and his stepfather, Richard Timm. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Creative, intelligent, and handy, Mike could fix almost anything and often did so for those he loved. His ability to understand the workings of both the natural and digital worlds was a testament to his curious mind and his desire to keep learning.
Those who knew Mike will remember him for his ability to bring joy to any room. In his later years, he became a master storyteller, often sharing jokes that would elicit laughter from friends and strangers alike. His creativity was not just a trait but a gift that he shared freely, making every interaction with him memorable and heartwarming.
Mike's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the laughter he inspired. In honor of Mike's extraordinary life, his family will hold a private service. Mike's journey on this earth has ended, but the impact he made will continue to ripple through the lives of many, ensuring that his spirit will never truly be gone.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
Honors and a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 10am at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

January 29, 2025

I am so sad to find out Mike has passed away. I first met Mike at Luke air force base in 1977 when we worked avionics on the F-15s. We became great friends and did a 4 day hike in the Grand Canyon spring of 1979. Mike and Tammy shared many of my fondest memories of the time I lived in Arizona. My deepest sympathy goes out to Tammy and family. Doc Holliday
