On Thanksgivings Day....she passed away at her home surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren, Meli'sa and Isaiah.
Minerva Fontenot McCrea was born on October 10, 1941 to the union of Samuel and Eva Fontenot of Eunice, La. She was the youngest daughter of sixteen children. She was the last living of 16 children and now she is in Heaven with all her siblings.
Minerva was a majorette as a young girl. She was joined in marriage at the age of 19 to the late Artis J McCrea, Sr they were married 64 years and to their union 3 children were born Late Artis J McCrea, Jr., David ( Kim) McCrea Sr of Gretna, La and Lisa McCrea of Jennings, La.
Minerva devoted her life at a young age to Christ. She was a member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church of Jennings, La. She later joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Mermentau, La
Minerva spent her days caring for her family, attending church and having a true love for fashion. She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. She enjoyed watching action movies such as Law & Order and Chicago PD. She said "if it aint no action, Iaint watching it".
Minerva had a beaming smile and a heart of gold. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman-honoring God and seeking him, wholeheartedly, as evidenced in the way she lived her life. Minerva exemplified true spirituality through the intentional love, trustworthiness, and pureness of heart. Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31: 10. She left her earthly body on the morning of Thanksgiving at her home with her daughter, granddaughter and grandson. God knew how special she was, so He took her on a special day.
Minerva was a great mother, grandmother, homemaker, sister and friend whose smile could brighten up your day, her food would feel your soul and her hugs would warm any heart. She was the glue of her family and loved everyone. She was often found reading her Bible. She will truly be missed
