Monica Elizabeth Grimes, a bright light in our lives, made her celestial exit September 13, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on April 19, 1966, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, she carried the spirit of her birthplace with her when she relocated to Texas with her family.
In December of 1987, Monica embarked on a beautiful journey of love and commitment when she married Randy Grimes. Together, they built a family that became the center of her universe. Monica's heart was immense, encompassing not just her beloved sons, Randy Grimes, Jr. and Christopher John Grimes, along with their wives, Nichol Grimes and Elizabeth Grimes, but also her cherished brother, Donnie Smith and his wife, Melodi Smith, and niece, Hannah Smith. She found joy in the simple moments, embracing life with laughter and a spirit of selflessness that inspired those around her.
A daytime drama enthusiast, Monica delighted in shows like General Hospital. Her happiness was infectious, and her unwavering love extended beyond family to her adored dogs, including her five granddogs, and her darling Lollipop, who brought her endless joy.
Monica is now reunited with her husband, Randy; her loving parents, Mo and Anita Smith; and her grandson, Brayden Grimes. While her physical presence is deeply missed, her spirit, kindness, and devotion remain imprinted in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers or services, Monica requested that her loved ones celebrate her memory in a uniquely joyful way—by spraying a bottle of Coke like a festive champagne toast. Let us honor her legacy by raising a toast to the love and laughter she shared, ensuring that her vibrant spirit continues to brighten our lives.
