Nancy Grose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Armstrong Funeral Home - Mount Ayr on Mar. 29, 2025.
Nancy Lynn (Wicker Deemer) Grose was born May 3, 1948 to Donald Eugene Wicker and Alice Marie (Laird) Wicker in Creston, IA. Nancy grew up in rural Kellerton, IA as the oldest of her three sisters, Marsha, Donna, and Debbie. Nancy (Nance) attended school at Kellerton and graduated in 1966 from Grand Valley High School where she was active in sports, band, chorus, Letterman's Club, and many other activities.
Nancy was united in marriage to John Richard Deemer on February 20, 1966. To this union was born three children: Brian Richard, Lori Lynn, and Kerri Dawn. John and Nancy settled in Grand River where Nancy worked as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a strong role model for her children after John's passing in 1980. Nancy began working at the Grand Valley School Elementary as a cook. Nancy's love of cooking showed through the homemade meals she helped prepare and serve into the early 1980's. From cooking, Nancy transitioned to Decatur County Dispatch and in 1994 began working for the US Postal Service until her retirement.
On January 17, 1993 Nancy was united in marriage to Gary Clifford Grose. Gary and Nancy spent 32 years living life to the fullest. Together, they enjoyed gardening, going for coffee, and dining out. Their most loved adventures were their many trips to Branson to watch the Dutton's and other shows. They would return from their trip already planning the next trip back and would go several times each year.
Nancy radiated her joy and smile, making friends wherever she would go. One dear friend, Barb Snook, became family. Nancy and Barb spent many years chasing their children together while drinking afternoon tea. They later became avid quilters and would quilt together at each other's home creating beautiful memories for family and friends. Nancy was most proud of her family and would host many family gatherings until she was no longer able. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their sports and activities. Her greatest joy was watching them grow into adults and starting families of their own.
Nancy passed away at age 76 on March 27, 2025. Nancy is survived by her husband, Gary Grose, son Brian (Kim) Deemer of Grand River, IA, Lori (Brian) Deemer of Creston, IA, Kerri (Kenny) Jones of Creston, IA, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, sisters Marsha (Melvis) Jimmerson of Van Meter, IA, Debbie (Bill) Baker of Anita, IA, many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends
