Hamptonville Mrs. Nellie Sue Mastin Gregory, 98, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Gregory was born February 1, 1924 in Wilkes County to Arthur and Joyce Mastin. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. Mrs. Gregory enjoyed quilting and gardening and was a wonderful baker. She was a devoted Christian who always put others before herself. Mrs. Gregory loved her family equally and unconditionally and instilled good morals into each of them to carry throughout their lives. She lived by her bible and reminded her family to do the same. She definitely leaves a wonderful legacy and great memories to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gregory was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Commie Gregory; sisters, Marie Bowers, Carrie Sturdivant, and Mary Reid; and brothers, Weaver Mastin, LP Mastin, Jack Mastin, and Robert Mastin. She is survived by her children, Toy Lee Gregory and wife Barbara, Rosie Lee Souther and husband Joe, and Jerry Commie Gregory and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Teresa (Scottie) Rinehardt, Cynthia (Allen) Shore, Cheryl (Will) Myers, and Amanda (Michael) Gregory; great grandchildren, Mason, Justin, Ethan, Savannah (Nick), Emalyn, Beth, Alexis, and Landyn; and special family members, Mattie (Jackie) Gregory and Starling (Julie) Bowers. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45PM prior to the service at the church. Special thanks to Cheryl Myers, Joe Souther, and the WFBMC cardiology unit and the cardiac icu and Dr. Beaty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sweet Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 7173 Somers Road Union Grove, NC 28689 or to the Alzheimer's Association PO Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Gregory family.
