Noemi “Mimi” Gonzalez, age 42 of Perham, daughter of Perfecto Gonzalez Orozco and Felicitas (Hinojosa) Gonzalez, unexpectedly took her last breath at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the North Ridge Health and Rehab Center in New Hope, MN.
She was born a Chicana in the lovely town of Bakersfield, California. Noemi was born the middle child and only female of an all-male household which included her brothers Perfecto Jr, Eduardo, Joe, and Michael.
Mimi grew up in several states, but she most importantly grew up in a little Norwegian town called Halstad, MN. During her high school years, she was active in basketball, volleyball, was a member of the Spanish Club, and an Honor Roll student. She proudly graduated as a Norman County West Panther. Mimi also worked as a student aide for the Migrant Education Program in Hendrum, MN. Mimi spent many years working as a Spanish interpreter for several dairy farms in the Perham area. She also worked as a translator and operator at Kenny’s Candy in Perham and also helped cook and translate at Perham Living.
Mimi was an avid reader, especially enjoying romance novels. She loved travelling to see family in Texas and Mexico, and enjoyed trips to the Twin Cities. Her life-long goal was to see the ocean in California.
Surviving Noemi are her parents, Felicitas and Perfecto Gonzalez; daughter, Megan Eckman with son-in-law, Francisco Mejia Quino; son, Frankie Lopez Gonzalez; fiancé, Francisco Lopez Arévalo; brothers, Perfecto Gonzalez Jr., Eduardo Gonzalez, Joe Gonzalez, and Michael Gonzalez with sister-in-law, Kimberly Wheeler; and nephew, Gabriel Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Francisco Hinojosa Morena and Felicitas Garcia Hinojosa.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 7:15 on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume from 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham.
