Olive Irene "Margie" Scott received her wings on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, surrounded by her loving family. She got to visit and share many fond memories with each one who came by to say their goodbye's. Margie was born in a log cabin in old Eucha on January 15, 1943, to John and Ella Mae (Fallingpot) Sunday. She attended school at old Eucha and Ketchum. Margie was a very proud member of the Cherokee Nation, and being a 3/4 blood Cherokee. Margie was spotted on a softball field by our father Don Scott, and he said "I'am gonna marry that little Indian girl." They were united in marriage on August 15, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma. They enjoyed many road trips and worked in many states picking fruits and vegetables, traveling with their friends in dune buggies, camping, they even had a working mule wagon, and entered mule competitions. She had ridden a covered wagon across Sailboat Bridge, which attracted many people. Margie worked at a nursing home, Cinch, Home of Hope for 32 years, and lastly as a Senior Companion.
Margie was preceded by her husband, Donald Vann Scott in 2015, her parents, John, and Ella Mae Sunday, two sons, Darrell Scott in 1985, Phillip Scott in 2021, siblings, McKenzie Sunday, Ron Sunday, Betty Sunday, Johnny Sunday, Mary Whitehead, and Brewster Sunday.
In this union of marriage, they had seven children. They are Diane Greer and husband John of Welch, Don Scott and wife Tracy of Vinita, Cindy Armstrong and husband Joe of Vinita, Ron Scott of Vinita, Shanna Bartley and husband Bill of Bluejacket, siblings, Billy Sunday, Leroy Sunday, and Shirley Cook, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Special friends, Butch Langley, Paula Bryant, Doran Hendren, and a very special nephew, Elton Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.
