Ova West Obituary
She was born on May 22, 1941 in Casey County, Kentucky a daughter of the late John Corbett and Eva Ellen Wright Buck. Ova was a kind-hearted, generous and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Okolona Baptist Church. Ova, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and listening to gospel music. In her earlier years and in her leisure-time, she enjoyed shopping and collecting purses. Perhaps her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband; J. W. West, whom she married on November 19, 1966 in Danville, Kentucky. She and her husband worked together at the 4-H Camp in Jabez for a number of years. She is also preceded in death by a daughter; Priscilla K. Burton, and her siblings; Martha Scott, James Riley Buck, Mary Taylor, Ollie Gibson, Irene Buck, Frances Boggs, Elmes Buck, Herman Buck, and a sister who died in infancy, along with a nephew; Jimmy Sandusky who was raised by Eva Buck and was like a brother to Ova.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two children; Teresa Ann Burton and Tony Stephen (Brian) West all of Nancy, Kentucky, her grandchildren; Scott Burton, Kendra Warf and Amanda Burton (Eric) Denton, and three great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Carroll, Gabriel Warf and Tashaun Dean as well as a son-in-law; Steve Burton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co & Crematory. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Molen Officiating. Entombment will be beside her beloved husband in the Lakeside Memorial Mausoleums. In lieu of Flowers, the family suggest that contributions be made in memory of Ova to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Kentucky 42503. You may also offer Condolences and sign the Online Tribute Book at www.somersetundertaking.com.
