Patricia Wakeman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home - Metuchen on Mar. 25, 2026.
Patricia Ann (Patty Ann) O'Connor Wakeman, born on August 20, 1961, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, after a courageous 20-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Patty was a proud graduate of St. Aloysius High School, Class of 1980, and dedicated 23 years of her career to Goldman Sachs as a Stock Analyst. In 2006, she stepped away from her professional life as MS progressed, but her indomitable spirit and resilience continued to inspire those around her.

She was a devoted wife to Mark Wakeman for 35 wonderful years and cherished her children, Matthew (and wife Victoria) and Michelle (and wife Alicia), with all her heart. Patty found immense joy in being a grandmother, lovingly doting on her grandchildren Mason, Eliana, and Nathan.

Patty is survived by her brothers James O'Connor (and wife Barbara), William O'Connor (and wife Linda), and Thomas O'Connor (and wife Melissa), along with her beloved sister Maureen O'Connor. She held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews, who will always remember her kindness and warmth.

Throughout her long battle with MS, Patty exhibited a strength that often left doctors in awe. Her courage and determination were a testament to her character, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

The Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840.

A Prayer Service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 9:45 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity supporting Multiple Sclerosis research, honoring Patty's legacy and the fight she faced with such grace.
