Paul Lee Humphries, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, born on September 1, 1935, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to the late Mr. William “Bill” Humphries and Mrs. Lola Bell (McIntire) Humphries. He passed away on September 30, 2024, in Healdton, Oklahoma, at the age of 89.
Raised in the Comanche area, Paul graduated from high school there. He went on to build a life filled with love and commitment. Paul married the former Ms. Donnie Ann Knight, and together they welcomed four children: Deborah, Lee Ann, Cindy, and Kris. Their life together was marked by joy and family bonds. Donnie preceded Paul in death on March 6, 1987, leaving a void that Paul would carry with him. In the pursuit of new beginnings, Paul found love again when he married the former Ms. Denise Slawson on July 18, 1991, in Ardmore. The couple continued to share many cherished moments while residing in Healdton.
As a devoted father, Paul was deeply connected to his family, which expanded immensely throughout the years. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren. Paul’s family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In his earlier years, Paul enjoyed an active lifestyle. He found joy in coaching his children in softball and baseball, taking them camping, fishing, hunting, and he also loved golfing. However, what brought him the most happiness was simply being surrounded by his loved ones with love and laughter.
Paul was also preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lola Bell Humphries; sisters, Lavell Brittan and Peggy Bridgers; brother, Floyd Humphries; and sons-in-law, Clint Lambert and Buzz Carter.
Paul’s legacy is profoundly carried on through his wife Denise and his children, Deborah Herrington and her husband Peter of Lady Lake, FL, Lee Ann Carter of Comanche, Cindy Adams and her husband Garry of Duncan, and Kris Lee Humphries and his wife Marty of Comanche. He also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Beth Tidwell, and her husband Clint of Ardmore; siblings, Mildred Humphries of Arlington, TX, Jearldine Graham of Duncan, Bill Humphries and his wife Fran of Castleberry, FL, and Doyle Humphries of Bloomfield, NM, along with numerous other family members and friends who admired and loved him.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Crematory.
