Obituary of Pauline Faye Cada-Nye
We are saddened by the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Pauline Faye (Cada) Nye on November 23, 2021, with a number of her loved ones by her side.
Faye (Nanna, Baby Buck, or Momma Nye to those closest) was born on May 16, 1948 to Tony and Mildred Cada of Midvale, Idaho. She went to school in a one room school house at South Crane Creek until the 7th grade then to Midvale where she graduated in 1966. After graduation, she attended Lady Catherine's beauty school graduating in 1967 and went to work for LaDor's Beauty Salon in Boise where she excelled in her profession as a cosmetologist. Not only was she gifted in styling, she also had the "gift of gab." She truly loved people and was genuinely interested in them and most certainly many of the world's problems were examined and perhaps resolved after an appointment with Faye. During this time Faye married Fred Nye and once Rusty and Ginger were born, she left LaDor's after almost 10 years to be a stay-at-home mom. From those years she established many lifelong friends.
Faye was the third child in a family of eight siblings. One of four boys and four girls, she was probably the one that you didn't mess with. As well as simply being strong willed, she knew the value of hard work, being unselfish, and above all else she knew the value of deep-rooted love for family, which was modeled by her parents. Once all the kids grew up to start lives of their own, most certainly special times for all were the family gatherings at the family's ranch. She loved family and we always made sure she brought her signature dishes, potato salad and deviled eggs, of which nobody could make better.
After Rusty and Ginger left home, Faye went to work for Ada County in 1998. However, her failing vision and health forced her to give up her job in 2016. From that point on, Faye fought numerous health issues, but all family members pitched in to help her. Aside from her children, Faye's brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces helped her with rides to appointments and the grocery store. It was during those times that we heard all of the latest news of her grandchildren who she loved with all of her heart. As her health deteriorated, Faye fought her battle with admirable grace! She never complained, but we all knew how badly she hated to need help, and more importantly to ask for help. We always assured her that it never was an inconvenience to take her to appointments but an opportunity to get to visit it with her. Not sure if she believed that, but it was indeed true.
When her illness worsened a few months ago, Faye willingly moved into Grace Assisted Living where she was greeted with open arms by so many wonderful people.
She is survived by son, Rusty (Tanna) Nye and their sons - Callen, Claysen, and Mac; daughters, Ginger (Todd) Cheney; Stephanie (Jim) Almaden and their children - Jakob Stevens and Morgan Stevens; Jennifer Halker and her children - Nicholas (Lauren) Bolinder, Mason Halker, and Peyton Halker, and stepdaughter, Sheila (Paul) Schwager and their daughters - Abbey and Ali. Also, Faye's brothers and sisters, Ilene Goff, Sister-in-law Terrie Cada, Judy (Ron) Sale, Roger (Linda) Cada, Wayne (Jody) Cada, Cary (Dani) Cada, Darlene (Doug) Black along with many cherished nephews and nieces who loved her dearly. Faye was greeted home by her parents Tony and Mildred Cada, brother Jerry Cada, nephew Kevin Sale and friends Donna Mansell and Roberta Irwin as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Special thanks to Grace Assisted Living in Caldwell and All Home Health Care and Hospice for the love and care our mom received. Special thank you to Maria Perryman for being mom's "pit bull." You gave her so much love and comfort and to Florence and LaVila - she thought the world of you. Finally, thank you to Dr. Jerry Meng.
There will be a viewing at Thomason's Funeral Home in Weiser on Monday, December 6, from 5:00-7:00. Services will be held Tuesday, December 7 at 11:00 am at the Vendome in Weiser with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser. Reception to follow at the Vendome.
