Peggy Jean Jennings, age 81, of Marion, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Herrin Hospital.
Peggy was born on March 27, 1943 in Paris, Texas. She worked closely with the Angelina Foundation and the Marion Regional Humane Society, where she left an indelible mark on the lives of countless animals and those who shared her passion. Someone who loved animals, she turned her passion into a profession and led a rewarding career as a pet groomer.
Peggy's love for nature extended beyond her humanitarian work. She was an avid gardener, earning recognition for her breathtaking garden, which was once featured as the "Garden of the Week." Her outdoor enthusiasm also led her to explore the beauty of the beach. She cherished hikes and serene moments.
A woman of faith, Peggy attended the Family Worship Center in Johnston City. Her legacy will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched through her unwavering compassion.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Turnage; son, John Mitchell; daughter, Jennifer Jennings; grandchild, Kyle Turnage; grandchild, River Jennings; sister, Janice (Steve) Moreland; and brother, Danny (Cathy) Barton. She is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Schneider.
No public services to be held at this time. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date and will be announced here as service details become available.
