Celebrating the Life of Peter Lo Yeh Liu
Peter Liu was born in Fuchow, China on September 26, 1937. He was one of four children of Chung Yuan Liu and Yi Lin Yao. Peter's family moved to Taiwan when Peter was young. Growing up in Taiwan, Peter was a very active and dedicated Boy Scout. After graduating college, Peter served in the military in Taiwan. In 1959, he met his future wife Doris Ngo when he was visiting the Philippines from Taiwan for the 10th World Scout Jamboree. After many years of corresponding by letters, Peter left Taiwan to join Doris to build their lives together in the United States. They were married in 1976 and lived in Manhattan, New York until they moved to Bloomfield, New Jersey in 1979 and had their only daughter, Doreen in 1980.
Peter was a mechanical engineer and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for most of his career, retiring from Becton Dickinson in 1996. Peter enjoyed cooking and eating, gardening, traveling, photography, and working on his home. He was always happy to lend a helping hand, volunteering countless hours as part of the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation (Tzu Chi), including relief efforts at Ground Zero after 9/11, and giving of his time to friends and family. He was loud and boisterous, full of life, and had an energy which could be felt by everyone around him.
