Phyllis Cohen peacefully passed away on October 14, 2025. Born on February 3, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Phyllis lived a life filled with creativity, love, and adventure.
She was a devoted mother to her two children, Stephanie Wood Hellebrandt and Jeffrey B. Cohen, and shared her life with her beloved husband, Morris J. Cohen, for seventy years. Phyllis was the love of his life, and he remained steadfastly by her side through every joy and every challenge, including her later years of illness.
Throughout her life, Phyllis made her home in New Jersey, North Carolina, and Florida, leaving lasting impressions wherever she went. A true world traveler, she embraced every culture and experience with curiosity and grace. An exceptional artist and a woman of exquisite taste, Phyllis brought beauty and sophistication to everything she touched-from designing and building a home to painting a canvas.
A visionary and ahead of her time, Phyllis applied herself in many fields and became a successful businesswoman. She designed, built and managed a health club and racquetball center long before such ventures were common, demonstrating her drive and foresight. She also perfected her skills in golf and tennis, always striving for excellence in everything she pursued.
Every conversation with Phyllis was a memorable experience-her wit, insight, and fearless honesty captivated everyone around her. Her vibrant spirit, boundless imagination, and unwavering authenticity enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Phyllis will be remembered as a radiant and inspiring woman whose legacy of love, art, and passion will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
