Ralph Alton Bowman, 88, of Rome, Georgia, formerly of Plainville, where he lived for many years, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was born in Sand Rock, Alabama, on February 27, 1936, to the late Raymond and Venice Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2002, Mammie Jo Bowman; sons, Bobby McEntire, Tommy Wilkey, and Billy Wilkey; grandson, Donny Voyles; daughter-in-law, Dianne Wilkey; brothers, Gene Bowman, Jackie Bowman, Jerry Bowman; sisters, Marie Cooke and Debbie Poole.
He was avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. Ralph worked for many years at Robinson Dry Cleaners before retiring as a security guard for Springs Industries.
Ralph is survived by his son, Anthony Wilkey; daughters-in-law, Ann McEntire and Debbie Wilkey; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special nurse friend, Leta Gwin.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM from Scott Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Chandler officiating. Pallbearers serving are Joseph Wilkey, Daniel Monteith, Mark McEntire, Taylor Payne, Blake Newport, Bradley Williams, Randall Payne, Zane Reynolds, and Alex Reynolds.
A special thanks to his granddaughter LeAnn Payne for being his caretaker for many years.
