William "Bill" S. Dolle II, a beloved figure in both family and community, was born on October 4, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky. After a life marked by dedication and service, Bill passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family.
Bill's professional journey as a general manager for Norfolk Southern Railway spanned many years, showcasing his commitment to both his work and his team. He was a proud graduate of Durrett High School and furthered his education with classes at the University of Louisville, where he laid the foundation for a successful career that would allow him to support not only his family but also many in his community.
As the patriarch of his family, Bill's heart was vast and welcoming, having been a father figure to his many nieces and nephews as well as his own children. His love for his family was unparalleled; he poured himself into supporting and nurturing them, always putting their needs before his own. His devotion extended to his wife, Margie Dolle, and their children, Sonya L. (Matt) Ketchem, and Eric Dolle. His legacy continues through his grandsons, William Justin Skaggs, Brandyn P. Skaggs, Ryan William Dolle, and Jackson E (Sydney) Ketchem, as well as his granddaughter, Alexa G. Ketchem and his siblings, Sisters Rita O' Daniel, Celeste Price, Maryann Henley and sister-in-law Roselee Dolle.
Bill was a man of many layers – he was the life of every gathering, lighting up rooms with his infectious humor and magnetic personality. His social nature allowed him to make friends wherever he went, and he was known for his generosity and compassion, always eager to lend a hand to those in need. He had a zest for life that included hobbies such as crossword puzzles, baseball, traveling, golf, and motorcycling. Absolutely, he was surely the life of the party, creating joyful moments that will be cherished forever.
Throughout his life, Bill took immense pride in watching his family grow, delighting in the connections and memories forged throughout the years. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, making sure that everyone around him felt cared for and valued.
Bill joins his departed family members in eternal rest: his father, William S. Dolle; his mother, Janetta Dolle; his sisters, Jane Clare Thomas and Joan Peters; his twin sister, Sandra Lee Rietmier; and his brothers, twins Martin Dolle and Maurice Dolle. Though they have parted ways in this life, their spirits carry forward through Bill's unwavering love and the family he nurtured during his time on earth.
Bill's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
