Reuel "Rocky" Rockafellow went to his heavenly home surrounded by family on October 3, 2024, in
Grand Ledge, MI, at the age of 88. Born on May 1, 1936, in Elm Hall, MI, Rocky was a man whose kindness and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew him.
Rocky graduated from Alma High School in 1954, setting the stage for a life marked by dedication and hard work. Shortly after graduation, he married his first love, Eva, on June 17, 1955. Together, they began a journey that would be filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising a family. Rocky's career was as varied as it was successful, starting at Lobdell-Emery Manufacturing Company, moving on to Greenville Tool & Die Co, and culminating in a fulfilling role as a Project Manager at General Motors, from which he retired after many years of service.
Rocky's life was one of active engagement and enjoyment. He was an avid outdoorsman who relished time spent hunting and fishing. His love for sports was evident in his unwavering support for the University of Michigan teams, and he could often be found on the golf course or at the bowling alley, always striving for that perfect score. Rocky's commitment to youth and community shone through his involvement as a kids' baseball coach and a Boy Scout leader, roles in which he mentored and guided many young lives.
Rocky's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 29 years, Lillian, and his children: Terry (Donna) Rockafellow, Chuck (Brenda) Rockafellow, Sherri (Rich) Hebert, Dave (Mary Jo) Williams, Doug (Debbie) Williams, and Susan Sipka. He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Rocky was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Phyllis (Story) Rockafellow, his first wife Eva, his siblings Ruth(Alonzo) Hunt, Leonard (Wilma) Rockafellow, Alma (Max) Root, and his granddaughter Sarah Biskupski.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Hope Church, 202 S Creyts Rd, Lansing, MI 48917. Interment will be in Elm Hall Cemetery, Riverdale, MI. A luncheon will follow at Pine River Recreation Club, 5527 N Ferris Rd, Riverdale, MI 48877.
