Richard Blackford, Jr, 43, husband of Renee Barber Blackford, passed away on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 in Georgetown, KY. He was born on April 11th, 1981 in Lexington, KY to Richard, Sr. and Carol Carpenter Blackford.
He was a Plant Operator with Georgetown Municipal Water & Sewer Service for over four years. Richard loved the outdoors and worked landscaping jobs on the side. He cherished his time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing pool and chess, watching movies, detailing his truck, always keeping it nice and shiny. His greatest joy was time spent with his children and wife. Richard was a member of Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Karis Christine Blake of Lexington, KY and Zion Ethen Blackford of Georgetown, KY; sisters, Nikki (Andra) Hogan of St. Louis, MO and Katrisha Waldridge of Frankfort, KY; brother, Hunter (Becca) Blackford of Versailles, KY; mother in law, Rosa Brent (William Burnam) of Lexington, KY; father/mother in law, Tony (Robbi) Barber of Georgetown, KY; brothers in law, William Burnam of Lexington, KY, Brooks (Katelyn) Barber of Cynthiana, KY, and Zachary Barber of Georgetown, KY; maternal grandmother, Myrtle King of Versailles, KY; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Blackford, paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 with Visitation beginning at 10:00 am until time of Service at Consolidated Baptist Church, Lexington, KY conducted by Pastor Richard Gaines. Burial will follow at Rose Crest Cemetery, Versailles, KY. Casket bearers will be Russell Maxberry, Ryan Maxberry, Marcus Maxberry, Travis Manley, Raymond Barnett, Anthony Roberts, Jeffrey Parker, Coty Northcutt, Crystal Bishop, Jeff Smith and Ryan Howard.
