Richard “Rich” Bofinger, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2024.
He spent his childhood in Punxsutawney with his father, Albert Bofinger. Richard always spoke fondly of several uncles, aunts and cousins who assisted in his upbringing. Following high school he served in the US Air Force for four years. He then attended Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and became and aircraft mechanic.
On May 19, 1961, he married Carol Marie Brinker of Brookville, PA. They were married for 58 years living first in New Jersey and then moving to Beaver County in 1976. They enjoyed gardening, traveling and square dancing. While in New Jersey Rich became a member of the Free Masons joining Laurel Lodge #237. He was employed by Eastern Airlines and later by US Airlines until his retirement in 2000. He will be missed by daughters Jane (Richard) Williams of Zelienople, PA and April (Russell) Connolly of Ellwood City, PA.
Six grandchildren will cherish memories of fun times at their grandparent's home. Christopher (Michelle) Williams of Conneaut Lake, PA, Jordan (Jane) Williams of McDonald, PA, Julia (Keith) Stoerr of Lancaster, NY, Mitchell (Emily Blanchard) Connolly of Fairfax, VA, Farrah (Andrew) DeFelice of Ellwood City, PA and Maxwell Connolly of Pittsburgh, PA.
He was blessed to meet his six great grandchildren.
He was a member of Concord Church since 1976. He and his wife enjoyed bus trips and fellowship with their Sunday school class. He was a member of the Marion Hill Sportsmen's Club where he enjoyed rifle shooting and big game dinners, the Hastings Camp in Westline, PA was a favorite place where he hunted deer and bear. Rich was a member of American Legion Post 512 in New Sewickley, PA, where the friendships he made there added fun to his last years.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday September 6, 2024 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm at the Concord Methodist Church. Pastor Chris Kindle will officiate. Interment will follow in the Concord Church Cemetery.
