WORCESTER - Richard E. Katz, 79, beloved husband of Linda N. (Sadowsky) Katz, passed away peacefully at Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of the late Irving and Esther (Grossman) Katz.
Richard was a graduate of Classical High School and he went on to further his education at Worcester State College where he received a 3 Masters Degrees in Elementary Education. Richard was a beloved teacher in the Oxford School system for 35 years.
He was an active member of Temple Emanuel in Worcester, MA for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, which he treasured immensely. Richard enjoyed vacationing in Aruba. Richard will always be remembered for his "Dad/Papa jokes."
Richard was in the Army National Guard and was a First Lieutenant and Tank Commander. He was also active in the Jewish War Vets and served as the Commander of Post 32.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 56 years, Linda Katz; two daughters, Sheri Ross and her husband, Martin Ross of North Attleboro, MA and Michelle White and her husband, Arthur White. He also leaves three grandchildren, Molly White, Ethan Ross and Jacob Ross who were his pride and joy.
He leaves behind his brother, Sheldon Katz and his wife, Wendy. Richard was pre-deceased by his older brother, Stuart Katz. He also leaves behind family and friends who will dearly miss him.
Richard's family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Healthcare Center and JHC Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Zichrono Livrakha (May his memory be a blessing).
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at B'nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. Johns Road, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 and the Blood Cancer United-Northeast, PO Box 22470, New York, NY 10087-2470.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
