Mr. Richard Dale "Rick" Tankersley, age 63 of
Madison, Indiana, entered this life on October 24, 1960 in
Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Richard H. and Ila Mae Leach Tankersley. Rick, a 1979 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, was inducted into the United States Marine Corps in June 1979 and served until he was honorably discharged in May 1985 with the rate of Corporal. He married Jonetta Kay LaPine on June 16, 2001 at West Fork Baptist Church. He lived in the Madison area his entire life. He worked at Madison Precision Products for 18 years as a truck operator. He previously had worked nine years at US Filter as a machine operator. He was a member of West Fork Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and watching NASCAR. He fought a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Rick died on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 3:33 a.m. at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in

Rick will be missed by his loving wife of 23 years, Jonetta Kay LaPine Tankersley of
Madison, Indiana; his mother, Ila Mae Leach Tankersley of
Madison, Indiana; his daughters, Kristina Dobbins and her husband, Robert of
Madison, Indiana, Charity Michelle Wright and her husband, Lindsey of Kentucky, Sarah Tankersley and her companion, Taylor Fox of Carrollton, Kentucky; his son, Jason Tankersley and his wife, Miranda of Hanover, Indiana; his stepsons, Randall Combs of Charlestown, Indiana, Jonathon Combs and his wife, Cansas of
Madison, Indiana; his stepdaughter, Cassie Combs of
Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Ricky, Taylor, Susan, Sean, Adam, Zackary, Neveah, Derray, Andrew, Jennifer, Christian, Kaylynn, Kameron, Devon, Jordan, Mason, Houston, Linda, Ralph, Elizabeth, Kalli, Athena, Kayleerae, Riley, Conner; his great-grandchildren, Princeton, Charly, Asher, Mia, Jordan, Aubree, Gracie; his brothers, Ronald Tankersley and his wife, Christy of Lexington, South Carolina, Donald Tankersley and his wife, Trish of Versailles, Indiana; his aunts, Jane Leach of Holton, Evelyn Bassett of Arizona; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. "Dick" Tankersley, died January 9, 2021, his daughter, Eva Renae Tankersley, died January 11, 2018, his sister, Susan Renae Tankersley, died July 6, 1989, and his great grandchild, Myles.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Jim Scroggins at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in
Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, 9306 North U.S. 421 near

VISITATION
Friends may visit Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres, 325 Demaree Drive in
Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
