Funeral services for Robert Orton Booth, better known as “Bob”, 92, will be held at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana, on Friday, November 8, 2024. The family will greet friends in the parlor at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Randy Booth will offer the eulogy and message. A graveside service will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana.
Bob was born on June 22, 1932 to Robert Edwin Booth and Eleanor Estelle Robbins in Nacogdoches, Texas and gathered with his people on Monday, October 28, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
At age 92, he joined his wife of 70 years, Lucille, who died last December and was also preceded in death by his beloved sister, Mary Eleanor Spencer. He is survived by his four children, Verien Schaffer, Randy Booth and his wife, Marinell, Teri Rumsey and her husband, Mike, and Scott Booth and his wife, Kathy, along with eleven grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Bob was born in Nacogdoches, Texas and moved to Shreveport with his mother and sister when he was a young teenager. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1949. He married Carmen Lucille Bryant on February 13, 1954, at Ingleside Baptist Church in Shreveport. He soon found his calling as homebuilder and realtor, and he continued to work fulltime as a realtor until age 88, spending his last 20 years with Century 21 Elite.
Bob loved his family, tennis, the Dallas Cowboys and LSU football, and he served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Broadmoor Baptist Church for many years. He is best known for his kindness.
The family is very grateful for the caring staff at The Glen, as well as St. Joseph Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to The Glen, 403 E. Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, LA 71115, or to St. Joseph Hospice, 8950 E. Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71115.
