Rev. Robert Franks, age 87, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born on Thursday, September 30, 1937, Robert lived a life dedicated to both his family and his faith, leaving a lasting legacy of service and devotion. He served as the beloved pastor of Greater Pentecostal Church of Winnfield for 49 years, shepherding his congregation with unwavering faith and compassion. In addition to his ministry, Robert was a lifelong logger and the proud owner of a successful logging business. He was also a respected Board Member and Trustee of the Louisiana Logger's Self-Insured Fund.
Rev. Franks was preceded in death by his father, Willie Jackson Franks, and his mother, Marzella Perot Franks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeanne Franks of Winnfield, LA; his sons, Michael Franks (Carla) and Darrell Franks (Sherry); and his cherished grandchildren, Rachel Hancock (Chad), Melissa Gruver (Anthony), Ashley Franks, Michael Franks II (Amanda), Matthew Franks, and Preston Franks. His great-grandchildren, Mila and Chance Hancock, Ashton and Michaella Gruver, Michael Franks III, Ella Gassiot, Asher, Remington, Oakleigh, and Wesson, will carry his memory forward.
Rev. Franks will be deeply missed by many, including his pallbearers Michael Franks II, Matthew Franks, Preston Franks, Anthony Gruver. Ashton Gruver, and Jeremy Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Franks III, Dennis Pardue, Chris Robertson, and Chance Hancock.
Visitation will be held at Greater Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Carl Francois, Jr. and Rev. Bryan Taylor. Interment will follow at Bolton-Teagle Cemetery with Rev. Allen Hatton officiating.
