Robert Tewksbury Obituary

Robert John "Bob" Tewksbury departed this life on April 21, 2024, at the age of 75 in Sarasota, Florida. Born on January 26, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to proud parents Robert and Vera Tewksbury, Bob was one of three siblings. He is survived by his sisters Kristine Kurnit (the late David) and Jane Tewksbury.
A serendipitous encounter in Troy, Michigan, blossomed into nearly 34 years of cherished marriage with his beloved wife, Cheri. Bob was the loving father of Gregory Tewksbury, the late Jeffrey Tewksbury, and Amy Banks (Steve), as well as the stepfather of Kelly Roe (Stuart) and Scott Bartley (Camille). His grandchildren, Cole, Lola, and Elle Tewksbury, Zuzu and Izabel Nemeth, Nolan and Bailey Bartley and the late Tyler, were the lights of his life. Bob adored his grandkids immensely. He was also the proud uncle of Heather Hutchinson.
Bob dedicated 30 years of his professional life to Detroit Edison, serving as a Safety and Health Coordinator. His time in the Naval Air Reserves fueled his passion for flying, leading him to become a licensed pilot. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob found solace and joy in woodworking, crafting exquisite jewelry boxes and even his own kitchen cabinets. He had a penchant for travel, relishing in the beauty of Michigan, particularly Mackinac Island, as well as enjoying retirement in Georgia and Florida. A fervent enthusiast of the Woodward Dream Cruise, Bob reveled in the nostalgia of classic cars. Always open to new experiences, he recently began learning to play the ukulele and enjoyed a round of golf whenever he could.
Bob's magnetic personality drew people to him effortlessly. His humor and charisma were infectious, making him a beloved friend to all who knew him.
Visitation to honor Bob's memory will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home - Vasu, Rodgers, and Connell Chapel (32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, MI), followed by a Funeral Service and Sharing of Memories at 1:30 PM. He will be laid to rest at Roseland Park Cemetery.
