Robert Townsend Obituary

Robert Edward Townsend Sr. of Montross VA, known as Bobby to many in the community, went to be with the Lord and his beloved Betty in Heaven on Monday, September 29th 2025.
He was born August 27, 1937 to George William and Mary Agnes Townsend.
Bobby worked as a mechanic at Heflin's Garage in Fredericksburg VA, worked hard and faithfully for many years, and enjoyed his retirement for 26 years before falling ill. He enjoyed camping with Betty, family gatherings, and just being present with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Kathy Smith (Keith), Kelley Langford (Kenny), and his sons Robert (Jessica), Jeff and Andy, as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers, especially Ashley and Debbie for their loving care for their "Pops".
Bobby's spirit is reunited with his parents and Betty in Eternal life, and his family invites you to a Celebration of Life held at Popes Creek Baptist Church to rejoice his homecoming, share happy memories and stories about Bobby's years on Earth, and help soften the grief of those he left behind.
A memorial service for Mr. Townsend will be held at 2:00pm at Popes Creek Baptist Church, 9131 Kings Hwy, Montross on Saturday, October 18th, with a visitation the hour prior. After the graveside, the family invites you back to the church reception hall for a Celebration of Bobby's Life.
