Benjamin "Pete" Grimes Obituary

Benjamin "Pete" Edgar Grimes, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on November 6, 2025 at the age of 78. Born July 24, 1947 to Helen Laycock Grimes and John Edgar Grimes, Pete lived a hardworking and humble life. He spent his years in construction, always willing to lend a hand and put in an honest day's work. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Amanda Pinkerton and her husband, Brian Pinkerton; and by his son, Jason Grimes and his wife, April Grimes. He was a proud grandfather to Skylar Bartleson, Raymond Rucker, Cameron Pinkerton, Zackary Pinkerton, Alexis Rhyne, Jordan Rodriguez, Katie Grimes, and Jacob Grimes, and leaves behind five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Janis Maxwell.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Laycock Grimes and John Edgar Grimes, and his sisters, Juanita McClellan and Connie Bray.

Pete will be remembered for his strong work ethic, gentle nature, and the love he held for his family and the outdoors. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

A private family gathering will be held to honor his life.
