Rochelle Frances "Ro" Coy, age 65, of Mount Gilead, passed away early Monday morning, November 4, 2024 at Marion General Hospital.
On March 21, 1959, Rochelle was born in Marysville, Ohio, one of 14 children of the late William R. and Mary Julia (Patton) Conner.
Rochelle was a caregiver at heart, dedicating her life to taking care of her family and anyone else who needed her support. She loved looking after others, always ready with a helping hand. Rochelle was especially proud of her grandchildren, whom she supported in all of their endeavors.
Rochelle enjoyed writing and reading books on her Kindle, diving into different worlds and stories, and found joy in listening to her favorite music. Rochelle had a deep love for genealogy and Native American art and history, exploring her heritage and the past with a genuine passion.
Rochelle's strength and determination were some of her defining traits. She was often described as stubborn and set in her ways, but this quality only added to her resilience. Her kindness and generosity were evident to everyone who knew her; she gave freely of her time, resources, and heart to those in need. Rochelle was a loving, strong woman who left a mark on everyone around her.
Rochelle is survived by her four children: Danielle (Wayne Jr.) Key, Jacob Coy, Rion (Thanthanan) Coy, Stephanie (Adrien) Howard; 11 grandchildren: Emmanuel Key, Jayren Key, Josiah Key, Cadence Burdette, Olivia Burdette, Caprica Drum, Ander Burdette, Vincent Howard, Jane Howard, Guinevere Howard, Minerva Howard; three great grandchildren: Amariah Key, Levi Darden; Jayden Malave-Key, siblings: Vicki Souder, Sharon (Tom) Sturgeon, Richard Conner, William (Patty) Conner, James Conner, Jeff (Nita) Conner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amariah Key; siblings: Sandy Conner, Carol Decker, Gary Conner, Earnest Conner, David Conner, Billy Conner, Sandra Conner.
Rochelle's family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Gilead Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate her life will begin there at 3:00 p.m. with Celebrant Jerry Wilson officiating.
