Ronald Garland Hood, known affectionately as Ron, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at the age of 66, in
Edmond, Oklahoma. Born on March 28, 1958 in Oklahoma City, Ron was a man whose laughter and gentleness touched
the lives of all who knew him.
Ron was the beloved son of Dr. William E. Hood, Jr. and wife Sally, and the late Maurice Hood. He was the devoted
husband to his wife, Linda, and a loving father to Josh Hood and his wife Whittney, Lindley Reyes and her husband
William, and Hayley Eldridge and her husband Seth. He was the proud and fun-loving Gramps of Harper and Jack Hood,
Bently Reyes, and Archer Eldridge. His sister, Becky, and her husband Roy, along with many family members and friends,
will fondly remember Ron's warm heart and witty banter.
Ron's collegiate journey began at Texas Christian University and concluded with a BBA in Finance from Central State
University. His passion for sports and community led him to various positions in athletics for all ages. He dedicated many
years to athletic field maintenance for Edmond Public Schools, directed Edmond youth athletics, served on the board of
the Edmond adult softball league, and founded Diamond Maintenance.
He was a scratch golfer and enjoyed all sports. As an enthusiastic fan of the University of Oklahoma, he loathed all things
orange. Ron was a family man who cherished every moment spent with his family, and his happiest times were playing
with his kids, grandkids and granddogs. Known for his excellent penmanship and meticulous bookkeeping, Ron also had
a talent for grilling thousands of burgers and never met a stranger he did not befriend.
He approached life like a game - to be played with humility, integrity, and a sense of humor. Ron prioritized what he
treasured most by ensuring his family was at church together every Sunday. He reflected the love of God in his kindness
and acceptance of people and exemplified to all who knew him the value of hard work, the importance of family, and
the power of a well-timed one-liner.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Ron's name to the Alzheimer's Association or the YouVersion Bible. Links for donations provided below.

Ron was a good man! I had the privilege to know him as I worked in EPS athletics for 25 years! He was always willing to go the extra to help make the sporting events top notch! His leadership in the athletic maintenance department was always exemplary and of the finest quality! He will be missed! God bless the Hood family!
