Ronald Joe Pilgrim, 87, of Arlington, Texas passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025 at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 19, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, near Tinker Air Force Base, Ronald grew up in a lively home as the middle child of five brothers. Together, they were affectionately known as the “Rickenbacker Rats, a nickname that captured their adventurous spirit and the strong bond they shared throughout their lives.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Ronald married the love of his life, Evelyn Howard in 1960. The two first met while roller skating, sparking a partnership that would last a lifetime. Their marriage was built on devotion, faith and laughter. In 1969, Ronald and Evelyn brought their young family to Texas, where they built a home filled with love, hard work and treasured memories.
A gifted cabinet maker, Ronald took great pride in his craftsmanship. His work was known for its precision, beauty and enduring quality, a true reflection of his character. Beyond his trade, he was a dedicated Boy Scout leader to his son, Michael, and their troop, sharing his love of the outdoors, teamwork and service with countless young people. Ronald also gave back to his community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels, delivering kindness and conversation with every meal.
Above all, Ronald was a devoted husband to Evelyn for 65 years. They shared a lifelong love of square dancing, spending many joyful evenings on the dance floor surrounded by friends and music. Their shared laughter and rhythm were a testament to their deep and enduring bond.
He was also a loving father to his son Michael (Cheryl) Pilgrim and his daughter Stacy (Phil) Harvey. He was an extremely proud Pepaw to his five grandchildren, Cara (Christopher) Paxton, Sadie Harvey, Cole Pilgrim, Emily Harvey and Jack Harvey and to his two great grandsons Stratton Paxton and Cullen Paxton. His family was his greatest joy, and his steady love, sense of humor and quiet strength will continue to guide them always.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Blanche Pilgrim and his four brothers, Marvin Pilgrim, Pat Pilgrim, Chris Pilgrim and Loren Pilgrim.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels, in honor of his lifelong dedication to family, community and craftsmanship.
