Ronnie G. Myers, 82, of Marianna Florida passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024.
Ronnie was born December 5, 1941 in Graceville, Florida. He graduated from Campbellton High School in 1960, having lead the basketball team to four State Championships. After playing basketball at Chipola College, he was awarded a full basketball scholarship to LaGrange College in Georgia where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.
He and the love of his life, Kitty Ruth Neel, of Chipley, FL married in 1966 and moved to Quincy, FL where Ronnie coached basketball at Shanks High School during the first years of integration. In 1973 he moved to Marianna, FL with his young family to own and operate Beall Tire Company. In Marianna he became a successful business owner, a well-loved community leader, and the President of both the Chipola Appreciation Club and the Rotary Club.
Ronnie was an honest, loyal, generous, and loving man who was known for his incredible sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. An avid sports fan, he was an enthusiastic devotee of Chipola Basketball, Florida State Football, and Atlanta Braves Baseball. In his younger years, he traveled extensively and played golf regularly. He was known by his family as the King of Surprises, as he loved nothing more than surprising people with things that he knew would bring them joy.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Perry Myers and Bonnie Lunette Myers, his sister, Mildred Thompson of Graceville, FL, his sister, Clara Myers of Campbellton, FL, and his brother, Donald Myers of Quincy, FL. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dr. Kitty Neel Myers, his daughters, Melissa Elizabeth Myers and Amie Neel Myers, all of Marianna, FL, and his sister, Patricia Ann Myers of Bascom, FL. Ronnie was blessed with three grandchildren, Taylor Myers Munroe, Madeline Beall Munroe, and Wallace Fletcher Munroe, all of Marianna, FL. In addition, he is survived by many other family members and friends whom he loved deeply.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:30 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marianna, FL.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marianna, FL with Reverends Ted Land, Blair Beaver, and Mr. David Lane officiating. Internment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Munroe, Wallace Munroe, John Bryan, Will Thompson, David Lane, and Jeff Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Ronnie's name to the Chipola College Foundation, 3094 Indian Circle, Marianna, FL 32446, 850-718-2404.
