Rose Nagle-Girgenti Obituary

Girgenti, Rose Ellen Nagle, age 80, of Hawthorne, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Born in the Bronx, Rose had lived in Hawthorne for the past 42 years. She graduated and started her career at St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, with a degree in nursing. She then served as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, where she would later become the Director and then Vice President of Continuing Education for 40 years until her retirement in 2020. In appreciation for her efforts, Rose was honored with a Human Service Award, the Woman of the Year Award from the Catholic Diocese of Paterson and numerous other awards through the years. She served as Vice Chairwoman of the Passaic County Democratic Party and as a Hawthorne Democratic County Committeewoman. In 1980 Rose was elected as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in New York City. A devoted wife, Rose worked tirelessly in support of her husband John's political career.
Rose was the beloved wife of Senator John A. Girgenti. Loving daughter-in-law of the late Joseph G. (1998) and Angie T. (2021) Girgenti. Sister-in-law of Joseph P. Girgenti and his wife Rosemary of Hawthorne. Loving aunt of the late Farah Lawrence (2021) and her surviving husband Michael, Anthony Girgenti and his wife Karen, Nicole Girgenti, Raina Cioletti and her husband Jeffrey. Great aunt of Gianni, Haley, Michael, Sierra, Ashton, Giuliana, Jackson, Joey, Caydence, Kaia and Jameson. She will be missed by many dear friends and colleagues.
Funeral will depart at 9:00am on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne, for a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Anthony R.C. Church in Hawthorne. Cremation will be private. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7pm.
