Roy Lee Ray, age 86 of Henry, TN, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Bells Nursing Home in Bells, TN. His funeral service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home at 12:00 pm Saturday, May 10, 2025, with Bro. Roger Graham officiating. Burial will follow in VanDyke Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 am Saturday, May 10th at McEvoy Funeral Home prior to the service.
Roy Lee Ray was born May 3, 1939, in Henry Co., TN, to the late Walter Arvol & Nellie Olive French Ray. He married Mattie Sue Palmer Ray on October 2, 1966, and she preceded him in death on January 4, 1992. He married Glenda Perry Ray on July 31, 1992, and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2020.
Roy was a member of the Henry Church of Christ. He worked and retired from the Board of Public Utilities in wastewater treatment. He loved to read, fish, and was an avid country music fan.
Roy is survived by stepdaughter Lisa (Doug) Woods of Collierville, TN; granddaughter, Laura Woods of Orlando, FL; grandson, Roddy Woods of Tacoma, WA, great nephew, Dillion Allen of Henry, TN (who he consider a grandson) and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides his parents and wives, Roy was also preceded in death by sisters: Lola Alice Bailey and Mary Sue Bowers; and brothers: Charles Ray and Franklin Dale Ray.
Pallbearers for Mr. Ray will be Curtis Bailey, Eddie Paul Allen, Dillion Allen, Roddy Woods, and Doug Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Bailey, Frank Ray, Jeffrey Allen, Mark Hamilton, and Darryl Dunlap.
