June S. Cullum Champaign - June Cullum, 91, of Savoy and a 65-year resident of Champaign, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. June enjoyed a very full life led by her faith, her family, and her sincere care for others. June was born on July 29, 1934, to Didrick and Marie (Husby) Sylling, and raised in the south side Brainerd neighborhood of Chicago. Sister of the late Dorothy (late Paul) Nemecek, and sister-in-law of Robert (Connie) Cullum. Aunt June to Cathy, Christy, Carol and Scott. The greatest joy in June's life was her family. She met James Cullum while they were students at Beloit College. Following their graduations from Beloit, June and Jim married in December 1956, and settled in Champaign in 1958, where their family was born. Jim preceded June in death, in 2014. June was the beloved mother of Lynn (Scott) Anderson of Champaign, Mark (Eileen) Cullum of Glenview and Drew (Mary) Cullum of Libertyville. She was the adored Gram to Katherine (Billy) Stuart, Megan (Peter) Lynch, Kevin (Molly) Cullum, John (Whitney) Anderson, Sarah (Andrew) Newman, Kelsey (Jake) Menge, Michael (Lauren) Cullum, Annie (fiancée Will George) Cullum, Joe (Jerica Smith) Cullum and Grace Cullum. June's 10 grandchildren gave her nearly 19 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Jack, Claire and Theo Stuart, Maeve, Ryan and Tommy Lynch, Connor, McKenna and Cora Cullum, Murphy and Ellie Anderson, Jimmy, Molly and Annie Newman, Max and baby girl (February 2026) Menge, and Erin and Grace Margaret Cullum, born just one day after June left us. Other than her faith, June's greatest gift was her friendships. Childhood friends, college friends, lifelong Champaign friends, and new friends from her happy life at Windsor of Savoy. First Presbyterian Church was at the center of her life for nearly 60 years and remained so in her final days. Friendships were forged in many First Presbyterian roles, as well as the Junior League, Krannert Art Museum Council, PEO, and as a CU One-to-One mentor. June was a proud member of the Ducks, completing more than 35 years of exciting trips with dear friends. A Celebration of June's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Church St., Champaign, on Friday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. Refreshments and remembrances will follow in the church's Westminster Hall. Private family burial in the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium, alongside her beloved Jim. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Champaign, to C-U One-to-One Champaign-Urbana Schools Mentoring Program, or to a charity of your choice.
