Services for Mrs. Ruby Blake will be 1:00PM Thursday, January 25, 2024 at McWhite's Funeral Home Chapel. 1215 North Tamarind Ave. West Palm Beach FL. 33401
Ruby Mae Blake was born on January 28,1951 to the late Willie Lee Bradford and to the late Betty Mae Green, in Greenville, Florida. She left Greenville as a youngster and moved to Miami Florida with her mother. Ruby Continued her education by graduating from high school with honors. She attended college and majored in Nursing upon graduating she took the nursing exam and passed it on the first attempt. She then began practicing nursing in Miami Florida Dade County). After a few years, she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she continued to practice at several different hospitals in Broward County for many years. She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years. Towards the end of her nursing career she went into private nursing, she ultimately retired at the age of 70 years. Ruby enjoyed being a nurse and valued the knowledge she gained through the nursing field.
Ruby is preceded in Death by mother, Betty Mae Green; Father, Willie Lee Bradford; daughter, Vivian Thompson; Son, Akbar Shahid; Brothers, Rod Culpepper and Jessie Lee Bradford Sr.; and Sister, Lillie Pearl Bradford.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Sherema Shabazz her loving Sons: HaKim Shahid, Rasheed Shahid, Ahmed Shahid, Lilah Shahid, and Donald Blake jr.; Grandchildren Shakima Wimbley and Kerry Shahid; Bonnie Smith (Niece), and a host of cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
