Dietrich Rudolph Mittelbach passed away on September 11, 2025, with his daughters by his side.

Rudy was born in Aue, Germany on June 7, 1945, to Lisbeth and Arthur Mittelbach. The family immigrated to the United States in 1952. Rudy graduated from Warren High School in 1963 and went on to earn his degree from Michigan State University in 1967.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1970, working as a helicopter repairman. In 1984, Rudy began a long career with Robert Bosch Corporation, retiring in 2010. In his retirement, he enjoyed working at Audi Rochester Hills and doing security at Ford Field, which allowed him to work at many Super Bowls.

Rudy was an avid fan of Detroit sports and Michigan State University. He loved spending time with his daughters, playing euchre, going for long drives, collecting coins, watching Hallmark movies, dining out, and most of all, being with his grandchildren.

Rudy is survived by his daughters, Erika Houser (Scott) and Heidi Edwards (Chuck), along with his five beloved grandchildren, Julia and Owen Dietrich Houser, and Charlie, Huntington Dietrich, and Sadie Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lisbeth and Arthur Mittelbach, and his brother, Klaus.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, September, 25, 2025, 4-8pm with a Memorial Service at 7pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Price Chapel), 3725 Rochester Road, (btwn Big Beaver and Wattles), Troy 248-689-0700. In honor of Rudy's love for Detroit sports and Michigan State Spartans, his daughters ask visitors to come wearing Detroit and MSU apparel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society online at www.donate.cancer.org or by mail to P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
