Russell Wendt Obituary
Russell G. Wendt, 60, of the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home.
Russell was born October 9, 1964, in Merrill, son of Robert A. and Luella (Weide) Wendt. Russell graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1983. He worked on the family dairy farm in the Town of Corning. He loved farming and looked forward to harvesting the crops. Russell also enjoyed working in the woods making firewood. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and always made sure to ask how his nieces and nephews were. Russell was a very faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Corning. He served as Lieutenant of the Town of Corning Volunteer Fire Department. Russell also enjoyed watching ice drags and going for walks. Russell recently started attending the Merrill Enrichment Center and enjoyed trips around Merrill socializing with everyone.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Patti Wendt of Merrill; nieces and nephews, Robert M. Wendt, McKinze (Connor) Kolehouse, and Caeden Wendt (Sarah Buenning); and great nieces, Emmalyn and Hanna Wendt. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Luella Wendt; and infant brother, Timothy Alan Wendt.
The funeral service for Russell will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning. Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning.
