William (Bill) Pittman Collins Jr., born May 10, 1947, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 10, 2025, at the age of 78. A man known for his sharp wit, outgoing personality, and legendary stubborn streak, lived life entirely on his own terms-particular, outspoken, and always unapologetically himself.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career at Chrysler, earning several awards for his hard work, commitment, and reliability.
Bill loved in a way that was uniquely his own. You could always count on him for blunt, honest, tough love. Even if the advice he gave wasn't what you wanted to hear, it was usually what you needed to hear. He could be hard to read at times, but if he loved you, you never had to doubt it. You always knew where to find him. His loyalty was deep and unwavering, even if it wasn't always spoken out loud.
He was quick with a joke, sharp with a comeback, and never passed up the chance for a clever remark. In his younger years, he was the life of the party-he loved good times, great company, and the sound of laughter, especially if he caused it.
Sports were a lifelong passion of his, and he continued playing baseball into his 40s. He also loved boating, and many fond memories were made on the water. He enjoyed spending time with friends at Green Street Tavern, where stories were shared and laughs were never in short supply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Collins Sr. and Lenore Collins.
He leaves behind his four children: Michael (Kelly) Collins, Mark Collins, William (Laura) Collins, and Kelly (Ben) Larsh. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Erin, Sarah, Aiden, and Liam, who will carry forward his stories, his humor, and his spirit.
Bill will be remembered as a man who was fiercely himself, and whose presence, honesty, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial visitation for Bill will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259 - 23 Mile Road in New Baltimore.
Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Michigan Veterans Home at Chesterfield Township.
