Sallye L. Hope, age 90, of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side, at 1:27 pm on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Parkway Manor of Marion.
She was born July 26, 1934, in the Eastern Tennessee mountain area in Jellico, TN, the daughter of Clifford and Geneva Bernice (Davenport) Shepherd.
Sallye attended school in Jellico and was a graduate of Jellico High School and was proud to be a Jellico Blue Devil.
She was united in marriage to Robert Eugene "Bob" Hope in May of 1963, in Anna, IL and together they shared over 56 years of marriage until his death on September 5, 2019.
Sallye never worked outside of the home and found great joy in managing her home and seeing to the needs of her family.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, later in her life enjoyed adult coloring and was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan.
She loved her family and enjoyed the many times and events they all shared together. The many memories created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melody Martin and husband, Clifford of Marion, IL and Melissa Harrell and husband, Harold of Altamont, IL; two stepdaughters, Robin Moore and husband, Scott of Johnston City, IL and Lela Mocaby and husband, Paul of Centralia, IL, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; infant daughter, Melinda Kay Hope; grandson, Clifford J. Martin and sister, Vickie Brown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
In accordance with Sallye's wishes there will be no visitation or services. She will be returned to the beautiful Smokey Mountains that she loved.
