Sandra Lee (Carpenter) Westfall, affectionately known as Nanie, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in
Odessa, TX, at the age of 81. Born on May 31, 1943, in Littleton, NH, Sandra was a beacon of love and adventure who brought joy and care to all who knew her.
Sandra's early life in New Hampshire was filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. She was the cherished daughter of Maurice and Lillian Carpenter, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her beloved husband Jerry Westfall, and her dear son Charles Westfall. Sandra's family was her cornerstone, and she navigated life's journey with the support of her brothers-in-law Steve, Vaughn, Ed, and Lee Westfall, and her sisters-in-law Margie Alderman, Dorothy Riley, and Pat Wileford.
Sandra's legacy continues through her loving children, Thomas Westfall, and Valecia Chambers and her husband Guy. She was a proud and doting grandmother to Kristin Lopez and her husband Adam, Letitia Chavez and her husband Andrew, Maeghan Medrano and her partner Juan Villa, Jordan Medrano and his wife Kamryn, Seth Westfall, Tesiah Chambers, and Ashley Bailey. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Michael Soriano, Melanie Villa, Sophia Villa, Zander Lopez, Ryan Chavez, and Andrew Cortez. Sandra is survived by: her brother Sonny Carpenter and his wife Karen, Willie Carpenter and his wife Ilene, and her sister Janice James and her husband David, as well as her sisters-in-law Wanda Westfall, Evelyn Westfall, and Shirley Sheid; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A high school graduate, Sandra dedicated over 30 years of her life to nurturing others as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the medical field. Her caring hands and compassionate heart made her a beloved figure to patients and colleagues alike. Sandra's unwavering commitment to her vocation was a testament to her loving and thoughtful nature.
Sandra had an adoration for owls and hummingbirds, finding delight in their beauty and the peace they brought to her garden. Her afternoons were often spent in front of the television, engrossed in her favorite daytime western shows. A creative soul, Sandra crocheted countless blankets, each stitch infused with love, gifting them to family and friends who cherished these tokens of her affection.
Sandra embraced the call of the wild with enthusiasm. She relished camping and fishing trips, each outing an adventure waiting to unfold. In her younger years, Sandra's competitive spirit shone brightly at the bowling alley, where she was both a formidable player and a playful critic, always encouraging her family to strive for their best. Always one to share sage advice, she often told her loved ones, "Imagine a deer in your crosshairs, aim for that," guiding them to focus on their goals with precision and care.
Sandra's role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She cherished the visits from her grandchildren, enveloping them in her warmth and love as they walked through the front door. In the kitchen, her pot roast was legendary, and her hugs were even more so-the epitome of comfort and love. To say Sandra was loving, thoughtful, and adventurous barely scratches the surface of who she was. She lived her life with an open heart and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone she met. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her legacy of love and adventure will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
Sandra Lee (Carpenter) Westfall lived a life marked by caring and connection, leaving a trail of cherished memories and enduring affection. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart that loved without limits.
