Shannon Frances Rooney, a talented Modern Dancer, gracefully pirouetted her way into the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on September 1, 1986, in Washington, DC, Shannon's "Dance 4 Life" sadly came to a close on August 11, 2024, in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
From a young age, Shannon displayed an unwavering dedication to her craft, which eventually led her to the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. She further honed her skills, earning a Bachelor's degree in performing arts from the University of Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shannon's commitment to her artistry was unparalleled, and her performances were a true reflection of her life-long passion for dance and the stage, which served as her driving life force.
Off-stage, Shannon's gentle demeanor and kind spirit endeared her to all who crossed her path. She held a special place in her heart for her beloved cat, Frances and Frances' companion and cherished moments spent in the company of her furry companions.
Shannon's artistic prowess and vivacious personality will be deeply missed by her surviving family members: her father, Bernard Rooney; her step-mother, Jingzhen Lisa Liu Rooney; and the memory of her late mother, Lorraine Frances Perona Rooney. Additionally, she is also survived by a host of loving family and friends who will forever cherish the memories shared with her.
