Shelba R. Akers
Shelba R. Akers of House Springs, Missouri, was born on September 24, 1952, in Richmond, Washington, to Raymond and Vagene (nee Barton) Brewer, and peacefully entered into rest on Friday, October 4, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 72 years.
Shelba was a woman of great faith and immense strength, admired for her selflessness and humble spirit. She was not only a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother but also a warrior for Christ, embodying His teachings through every act of kindness. Her heart extended beyond her family, reaching out to those in need across the globe. Whether it was purchasing bibles to help teach the word of Christ throughout the world, working to improve wells in India or helping Jews in Russia get home to Jerusalem, Shelba's mission was always to make the world a better place. Her dedication to service was not just a calling but a testament to her deep theological understanding and love for others.
She took great pride in her family and her beloved home on Dulin Creek, which she kept with meticulous care. Her house was always immaculate, a reflection of her strong sense of order and beauty. Shelba was simple and unworldly in her ways, finding joy in the little things, from the laughter of her grandchildren to the peaceful moments spent in prayer. She was a survivor in every sense, having overcome cancer and numerous challenges with grace and resilience.
Shelba cherished her role as a loving wife to her husband, Junior "John" Akers, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. She was a proud mother to Darla Blecha and Jeremy Akers, and her heart was full of love for her grandchildren, Sydney and Dylan Blecha, who brought her endless joy. Her bond with her siblings, Greg (Steve Hasvold) Brewer and Valerie (Randy) Russell, was unbreakable, and she remained close to her extended family and many friends, who will forever remember her warmth, generosity, and faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Vagene (nee Barton) Brewer, her beloved son, Johnny Ray Akers, and her sister, Sheila Moore.
Shelba will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her acts of service, and her deep love for her family. She touched the lives of so many and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and devotion.
