Sheliah Lorrine Gross, 81 of Frankton, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Community Heart & Vascular Hospital, Indianapolis after a brief illness.
She was born in Granite City, IL on June 24, 1943, and was the daughter of Robert and Georgene (Daniel) Atchison. She married Kenny Gross on July 28, 1988.
Sheliah retired from RCA in 2000. She was a member of the New Day Baptist Church, Alexandria where she was an active member, serving as Church Treasurer, president of the Lamplighters, New Day Sewing Ladies, and loved doing Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry. Sheliah was a former member of the Wapehani Girl Scout Counsel where she was a troop leader, service unit manager, cookie coordinator and many more to mention.
After she retired, quilts were her middle name. She loved to garden and canning for her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory, is her husband, Kenny W. Gross, her children, Tina (Dan) Wilson, of Elwood, Misty Mallette, of Anderson, Jeff (Shellyann) Comer of Panama City, FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Krystal (Aaron) Wilson Azelten, Daniel Wilson, Ashley Featherstone, Levi Comer, Lia, Tai, Mei Chin, Jeffery, Brittney Comer and Andy, AJ, Nick Bean , Kenzie Odom. Sisters; Collette (Emmett) Crowder and Deborah (Randy) Streetman both of Elkhart. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Sheliah touched the hearts of everyone she interacted with.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, her first husband, Jim, two brothers and three sisters, and a grandson, AJ Bean.
A celebration of Sheliah’s life and legacy will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the New Day Baptist Church, 202 W. Tyler St., Alexandria with Pastors Chris Hubler and Harrison Williams officiating. A burial will follow in the IOOF-K of P Cemetery, Frankton. A visitation will be on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, at Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
