Juanita Spears Obituary

Juanita Marie Spears born July 7, 1951, in California, and died February 22, 2025, of heart failure in Denver. Juanita and her brother Chucky were abandoned by their parents as young children and eventually raised by their father, uncle Chuck and aunt Martha Spears. She is survived by her sister Brenda Deschermeier (husband Mark.) Preceded in death by her brother.

Juanita will be missed greatly by her sister Brenda. She will be missed by many friends who considered her like a sister and an aunt. Her dear friends Vicky Hollenweger, Phil Pearson (and the Phil Pearson family) , DeAnn Carmickle (and the DeAnn Carmickle family), and Greg and Jeremy Harrison will especially miss her.

Juanita served in the United States Marines Corp from 1969 to 1972 when she was honorably discharged. She lived in the San Diego until the late 1970s when she relocated to Denver, Colorado. She spent most of her professional career as a legal secretary and legal assistant working 25 years for Phil Pearson, MD, JD.

Juanita’s true joy in life was animals. She was a faithful volunteer for the Animal Rescue of the Rockies and other local animal rescues. She worked diligently to connect animals in need to good people and loving homes. She always had a treat ready for any dog she encountered.

Juanita will be remembered for her many unselfish acts of kindness. She was a woman of faith. She showered her friends with gifts she had knitted, crocheted, or painted. She had an extensive knowledge of pop music spanning the decades. She loved movies and lunch with friends. She had many friends throughout her life. For those fortunate to know her, she will be missed.
