Stephen L. Molnar of Walkerton, It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen, who left us on January 9, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on January 23, 1953, in Fayetteville, NC., to the late Louis and Velma (Payne) Molnar, and was raised in South Bend, IN. Stephen graduated from John Adams High School in 1972. He lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a uniquely sarcastic sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.
Stephen proudly served in the Army, where he exemplified duty and honor. His military experience instilled in him a sense of discipline that was often accompanied by a witty remark or a playful jab at the absurdities of life. Following his service, Stephen became an industrious worker in a manufacturing and production setting, where he applied his strong work ethic and attention to detail. His ability to tackle challenges with a sense of humor made him a respected figure among colleagues and a reliable team member in every project.
Beyond work, Stephen was known for his warmth, generosity, and irreverent humor. He was a huge Notre Dame fan, and "loving NOTRE DAMN FOOTBALL" was his passion. Watching a winning Notre Dame game was better for all of us than seeing him watch ND lose-his enthusiasm and spirited commentary could light up any gathering. A passionate fisherman, he also loved spending time by the water-especially if he caught something, as those were the days worth bragging about! His affection for the Great Smoky Mountains was evident, where he found solace in nature's beauty, often hiking with a keen eye for adventure. And let's not forget his undying love for the beach-he could never get enough of diving into the waves and soaking up the sun, always ready to embrace the warmth and joy that the ocean brought.
Stephen was especially proud of his step-grandson, Devon, who preceded him in death. Stephen was happiest when he was with Devon, and he cherished the joy brought to him by Devon's daughter, his great-step-granddaughter, who kept his spirit alive.
Stephen is survived by his siblings, Lisa Humphrey, Denise Rockstad, Jeffrey Molnar and Brenda Molnar. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Sellenberg. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, especially those who appreciated his one-of-a-kind humor and zest for life.
A memorial service to honor Steve's life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 at North Liberty Christian Church, 65225 IN-23, North Liberty, IN 46554. Friends may visit the family 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Palmer Funeral Home – North Liberty Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Pl, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to National Pancreatic Research Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 in Steve's memory.

Rest in peace, Steve. Your legacy of service, kindness, and sarcastic wit, along with your love for Notre Dame football, fishing, the Great Smoky Mountains, and the beach, will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us to find laughter and joy in every moment of life.
